Yes, I’d agree this is a good thing, job-wise and career-wise.  I’m looking forward to the project, and am grateful for the opportunity. However, I kinda wish I’d been told in advance I was getting this opportunity before it was nationally announced.  I also wish I’d been invited to the announcement. Had someone not given me a head’s up email about the ongoing meeting and announcement, I would’ve found out the next day by the small stack of meeting invites I received the following morning, and been given no context for them.
