World War Z Trailer
I might be a bit late to the party on this, but I just watched the trailer.
So… the zombies are runners, now? More so, they’re a hive-mind running horde? Look, I liked 28 Days Later, too, but that doesn’t mean all zombies have to have mastered parkour at this point.
I feel like the book told of a slow but relentlessly moving enemy, more akin to the ‘shamblers’ from Romero’s films. An enemy that doesn’t get tired, or homesick, or hurt, or emotional; able to wage total war. An enemy with one goal: to feed.
If you read the book, you can think of ‘decimation’, and understand the impacts that had on nations, and what we’re told they had to do to save their bit of humanity.
World War Z, the book, was a written history of an event that never happened, told through a myriad of related narratives like a collected oral history (hence the subtitle ‘An Oral History of the Zombie War’). I quite enjoyed it. It worked well to show a world in turmoil, and how it survived, and what of it survived.
World War Z appears to just be a zombie movie. One that I’ve seen before.

There is an old zombie movie at tells half the story from the zombie point of view. To them, everything else moves at super high speed. Interesting perspective. Can’t remember the name of the movie.
